We are done. The light fixture has been installed. The kitchen is now complete. It looks great.

I think it is safe to say we are 99% finished when it comes to the kitchen renovation. We still have to touch up some of the paint and finsih fitting the pantry will shelves. Here is a photo of the nook with the baseboards installed and the new table and chairs. We are still waiting for the light fixture to arrive. We have been told it has left Ontario and we should be receiving it within the next week.

We went chair shopping today at http://www.nood.ca/ and bought two sets of chairs, tow with arms and two without. We will pick them up next week.

This past Sunday we ordered this light fixture. It is the Filament fixture from Nuevo. It might take a few weeks to get to us since it is being shipped from Ontario. It reminds me of a pile of paper clips. It is very sparkly.





The backsplash tiles have been installed.

Since the counter tops have been installed we have put up the trim around the window and the pantry door (not pictured here). We have also installed some wood blinds that we bought at IKEA. The price was right and they are real wood, which makes me very happy. I think we will buy more of these blinds for the eating nook.

The counter tops were installed yesterday. Ryan installed the sink, faucet and dishwasher. We are washing our first load of dishes right now. We went shopping for tile and we have decided to buy the 2"x2" tiles in the photo.

We purchased this table last weekend at http://www.nood.ca/. It is ready for pickup today, just in time to be placed in the breakfast nook which we have finished tiling. We are having our counter tops installed tomorrow. Our kitchen renovation is almost done. The only things left to install are the wood trim around the window and doors as well as the valance under the upper cabinets.

We have moved the fridge from the nook back into it's near home next to the pantry. We still have to install the baseboards.

I bought a hardware mounting template designed specifically for attached hardware to kitchen cabinets and drawers. We are still waiting for the counter tops to be installed.

We received the missing cabinet pieces from Home Depot. It has been just over 2 weeks since they ordered them. Now we are just waiting for them to come back to us with a quote on the conter tops. The over the range microwave has also been installed.

Last night we started the process of ordering our counter tops. We have requested an appointment to have our kitchen measured and then we can place the actual order. The whole process will probably take about 4 weeks, so of course I ran out and bought some counter top cleaner (and dishsoap and handsoap) from Fruits & Passions. I couldn't wait to spend the gift card my Mom gave me for my birthday. Thanks Mom! I also bought a caddy to store the containers in.


We have the base cabinets installed including the area surrounding our new dishwasher. I am still very excited to actually have a dishwasher. I can't wait to put in the first load. It will probably be the only time I get excited about doing dishes.

We have hit a bit of a road block. Home Depot forgot to include two of the brown end panels for the upper cabinets. They have ordered these new panels for us at no extra cost but the bad news is we will have to wait 2-4 weeks for delivery. Now we are going to try and install all of the base cabinets as well as the appliance. Hopefully we can order the counter top soon and then we will really be at a stand still while we wait for both the counters and the missing end panels.

We have cabinets! I am pretty excited.

We bought a new LG LCD TV for the kitchen. It fits nicely on the mounting bracket. Now I won't miss any of the news on TV while I am making dinner.

We have put down and grouted most of the floor tiles. We are going to tile the nook once the cabinets have been installed and the fridge has been moved to it new spot next to the pantry.

We put down 1/4" WonderBoard® Cement Backerboard on top of the linoleum. When I say linoleum I don't mean vinyl, it is the real deal, floor tiles made from linseed oil.

We have started putting down the ceramic tile over the cement backerboard.

The kitchen has been painted green, VERY green. The paint colour is called Green Fig by Behr paint.

The drywall is ready for paint. I think we are both glad there won't be any more dust for a while.
